St. Paul’s Oktoberfest 2023

Oct 10, 2023 | Recreational, Shopping, Tourism

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church held its second annual Oktoberfest on September 23rd. This community event was open to everyone with free admission and despite the weather, they had a terrific turnout with locals as well as visitors from Northern Virginia, DC, Maryland, and New York City.   Food included three kinds of sausages, German potato salad, sauerkraut, and red cabbage, pretzels, German chocolate cake, strudel, and gingerbread heart cookies. Local beers and wines were also available. They had a beer stein holding contest with women and men winners. The band, Lost Lederhosen, was very good, playing upbeat German party music. The Christkindlemarkt was moved inside the Parish Hall and featured lots of handmade goods. Attendees expressed how much they enjoyed the event. All on-duty first responders from King George and the base were invited to come and have a meal. A handmade quilt, donated by the King George Village Quilters, was on view for raffle ticket sales. The Oktoberfest committee reports positive feedback from attendees, and they have begun planning for next year. So, mark your calendar for September 28, 2024.
